Head of Software Development Position Overview:
Our client is a well-funded and hugely technology driven semi-start-up business who are actively seeking a Head of Software Development (Development Manager) to join them on a full time, permanent basis due to planned growth.
Upon taking up this position, you will be managing a small team but are expected to grow this by 400% in quick succession. In addition to the core focus of growing and managing the team; you will also be involved in overseeing the development of a new features to the company’s product, as well as maintaining the codebase.
The company operate a very modern IT environment and although it would be beneficial if you had strong hands-on technical skills, it is not essential. The company are planning on taking their development really lightweight, so as to only build core features in Scala/Java and perhaps use something like Go for more mainstream stuff.
This is a great company to work for! It’s well funded and has the opportunity to create a blue ocean in it’s niche market. They have huge interest from the likes of Microsoft and Google but need to scale up quickly.
Head of Software Development Position Requirements:
- The core focus of this role is to build and manage a team – creating the right environment/culture, getting the best of people. Therefore, you will need to have experience of performing this kind of role in your most recent position/s.
- You will need to have good Java and Architecture skills.
- You will need to know how to operate effectively within a small, start-up environment.
- Any experience or knowledge of DevOps tooling and/or CI/CD would be highly beneficial.
